UNCONSUMED
CURATION

Myself and fellow artist Georgia Green curated and organised a large cross-disciplinary, multi-generational exhibition of 95 East Anglian artists in March 2023. Held in Norwich, at The Shoe Factory Social Club, and supported generously by The East Anglian Art Fund, we wanted to showcase the region's thriving art scene and create an engaging, accessible exhibition for the local community.

A big aim of the show was to break down perceived boundaries between exhibitors, bringing artists together from different disciplines, generations and career stages; particularly those who were self-taught or who had a non-traditional arts background. We had a brilliant response from exhibitors about how Unconsumed had boosted their confidence after lockdown, tackled imposter syndrome and facilitated networking with other artists.

We had over 600 visitors over the week-long opening, and received many positive comments:

'Fantastic! Diverse show celebrating the talented artists in East Anglia'

'Love how it's curated and pieces are almost hidden on the walls'

'Fascinating insight into people's minds and reactions to the pandemic'

This show was also an opportunity for our exhibitors to present work made during or in response to the pandemic, highlighting the importance of creativity during lockdown and how making is a very human response to crisis.

You can find out more through our Unconsumed website and instagram. You can also read our interview with the EDP about the show here.
