TWIST/
COMPRESS

These woodcuts are attempted translations of the large-scale drawings I produced during my OUTPOST residency. I continued to explore the feelings of compression, tension and claustrophobia experienced within my home during the pandemic, focusing on abstracting bodily forms.

Cutting directly and automatically into the plate brought an unusual spontaneity to the printmaking process, whilst experimenting with fabric added unexpected textures to the end print.

Variable linocut editions each of 14, on Somerset paper, Japanese paper and calico.
