FOUNDRY WORK
For 14 months, I was employed as an artist assistant to sculptor Brian Alabaster at his Suffolk-based foundry. Together with a small team, I helped create his bronze-cast pieces through the lost-wax method. This involved fibre glass and silicone mould-making, painting and pulling
wax casts, wax finishing and running, investment plaster mould-making, knocking-out, TIG
welding, metal grinding and plasma-cutting, bronze-finishing with a range of power and hand
tools, and patination.
Honing these skills was really rewarding and I continued to practise by casting my own pieces. I loved the creative nature of this work and would I am actively looking for similar roles in the future (please contact if you have any questions).
